Pilar Hanes received her undergraduate degree at California State University, Northridge in Health Science and in 2001 received her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy with honors.

She conducted research as part of her Master’s thesis on “The Effects of Therapeutic Horseback Riding on Children with Cerebral Palsy” which was published in 2005 in the International Journal of Therapeutic Horseback Riding.

Pilar has taken many advanced training courses in orthopedic manual therapy that include Mulligan Concepts, Institute of Physical Art Functional Orthopedics, Back Education and Training, Kevin Wilk’s Knee and Shoulder seminar series, Total Motion Release and Advanced Kinesiotaping Techniques.

She co-founded Genesis Physical Therapy in 2003 and continues to be active in the community as a regular guest lecturer at California State University, Northridge Physical Therapy Program for the Advanced Orthopedic course and various public seminars.

For leisure, she enjoys mountain biking, road biking, horseback riding, golf, traveling, running, working out at the gym, and spending time with her husband and 2 children.
